Music is an easily accessible tool. Anyone can listen anywhere and anytime. There are genres for every mood – sad, giddy, excited. Students enrolled in Leaders High School express their thoughts about how music affects their feelings during school. Since students are dealing with the phone ban, without music their moods can vary.
Abror Abidov, a freshman at Leaders High School, says that listening to music can positively impact a person’s mind, boosting their energy level. He says his mood gradually goes up when music is played, making his class experience more enjoyable and less frustrating. “Yeah, music makes my mood get better because when the classes get boring, it makes your mood go up,” he explains.

Safaa Mahdiya, 9th grader at Leaders High School, has a similar opinion to Abror. She describes listening to music changes her mood positively, “Yes, When I’m feeling sad or upset or angry I just listen to some music that my teacher was playing and you know, my mood just turns a whole 360.”
Without phones, students are now using headphones with the school computers. Malik Almontaser, a freshman at Leaders High School, shared that music in class is important for students to be able to have access to “because it makes them lock in.”
