Students at Leaders High School love stepping out of the classroom anytime they can. Many students agree that trips are always fun because they aren’t always in the classroom looking at the board copying down everything being written or working on worksheets.

Ms. Madris talks about how students have planned trips for fun or for a club to find some ideas for their next project such as student government, they plan trips to go to a food bank and other fun and interesting trips.

“Like I think the past couple years we’ve had more students like the student government and different clubs and stuff say that they want to do trips so I always encourage them like their students who have an idea for a trip they want to.”
She said, “I think trips really do help students learn better since they’re exposed to the outside world like outside the classroom. Certainly certain students might connect more with a certain experience.”
Students often wonder where the money comes from to pay for these trips.

“It is kind of depends so there are certain trips that we will do fundraising for like especially like senior stuff right so the seniors will pay senior dues and we’ll do some fundraising in order to be able to do all of those kind of like fun trips for trips that are academic like they’re connected to actual classes that money will come out of our school budget does that make sense so it’s sort of like you can think of it like if if things are connected to classes and their academic that will usually come from the school budget if things are more like kind of just for fun like fast those things will be things that we as a school,” said Ms. Madris.
Students often wonder how the teachers always make trips work in Leaders High School.
“The process for teachers is basically that they have to put in a request about 3 weeks before they want to actually take the trip and the reason for that is we have to make sure that you know everything on the calendar works and that we don’t have a conflict or there aren’t like too many different things happening until once the teacher puts in the request they can also request for things like if there’s money that’s needed sometimes you know for it taking a trip,” Ms. Madris said.
When it comes to planning trips, students should keep in mind the cost of the trip, planning ahead of time and seeing who is interested in going on the trip. Now that students know this information, students hope to go on more trips.
