The Lafayette girls’ volleyball team won their big playoff game on Friday, November 7, against Walton. Coach Michael Granelli says they won because they worked well together and talked to each other on the court. Players had different feelings about the playoff game.
All season, the team worked on being good teammates. Before every game, Coach Granelli helped the girls stretch, calm down, and go over the game plan. He always reminds them that volleyball is not just about being strong, it’s also a game of trust and teamwork.
“Volleyball is about how well you work with your teammates,” Coach Granelli said. “When we stay focused and support each other, we play our best.”
The team is known for being strong and good at defense. Their season started in September and went through the fall, giving them time to get better and grow closer.

“I’m proud that other coaches think we’re tough,” Granelli added. “Winning on Friday was amazing. Now we’re excited to see how far we can go this year.”
Abby Chin, a freshman on the team, talked about the joy that came from that day.
“I was so happy that I won my first high school [playoff] game and our coach gave us some pizza,” said Abby.
Jodie Lau, a senior and captain of the team, shared a different perspective.
“I’m a little sad because this was my last season playing a high school playoff game,” Jodie said.
The season is over now, and the Lafayette girls’ volleyball team has a lot to be proud of. Coach Granelli really focused on teamwork and trust, which helped them not just in their big playoff win but all season long.
